New 30mph speed limits have come into force on a number of main roads across Birmingham .

Residents, commuters and visitors will have to get used to the new rules quickly, and risk fines and penalty points for going too fast.

Traffic will move slower than Brummies are used to on many of the major routes around the city.

Over 25 roads are affected and council bosses said "virtually all roads" would now have a maximum speed limit of 30mph.

Signage has gone up alerting drivers to the changes, with affected roads including stretches of Bristol Road, Hagley Road West and Coventry Road.
