COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Gov. Mike ordered Saturday that flags on public buildings and grounds throughout the state be lowered to half-staff Sunday in remembrance of the attack 84 years ago on Pearl Harbor.
“In honor of the lives lost on December 7, 1941 in the attack on Pearl Harbor, and in accordance with orders from the President of the United States of America, I hereby proclaim ... that the flags of the United States of America and the state of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio from sunrise to sunset on December 7, 2025,” DeWine said in his order .
On Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese war planes launched a surprise attack on the naval base in Hawaii, thrusting the United States into World War II.
