Weather maps are warning that parts of the UK could face up to 60 hours of snowfall as temperatures are set to plummet later this month.

Forecasts indicate that the wintry weather system could begin around December 17, bringing snow to Western Scotland and parts of North West England.

While the Met Office is more cautious, it does suggest a higher chance of wintry hazards in northern areas towards the end of the period, raising the possibility of a White Christmas .
