The Department for Work and Pensions has issued extra payments with one six-digit code to state pensioners. Thanks to an eligibility shake-up from the Labour Party government, the DWP is sending out £100, £200 or £300 Winter Fuel Payments.

Pensioners can receive between £100 and £300, with the amount they receive depending on whether they live as a couple, if they're entitled to other benefits, and whether or not they live in a care home.

The DWP states: "The payment reference pensioners receive will begin with the recipient's National Insurance number followed by 'DWP WFP', helping people to identify it safely."
