This was the moment a prolific shop thief's two-month crime spree came to a crashing end.

Lee Macdivitt was caught red-handed by an eagle-eyed officer who followed him into a shop in Pensnett.

The 37-year-old began grabbing items from the shelves and shoving them into a bag.

But as he was confronted by the officer, he tried to flee - and went crashing into a drinks stand.

Macdivitt, of no fixed address, was jailed for 44 weeks at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on December 3. He admitted ten counts of theft from a shop and attempted theft from a shop.

The court was told Macdivitt had repeatedly stolen from the same two stores in Pensnett in July and September before police
