Environment Canada has issued a yellow snow squall warning for Sault Ste. Marie and St. Joseph Island, with forecasters calling for hazardous travel conditions throughout Sunday.
The agency says local snowfall totals could reach 15 centimetres, with heavy snow and blowing snow reducing visibility to near zero at times. Confidence in the forecast is rated high.

While the most persistent band of snowfall is expected to remain west of the city, closer to the Sault airport, the broader region will continue to see flurries and snow squalls through the afternoon.
Winds will be a major factor, with northwest gusts up to 50 km/h expected through much of the day, keeping wind chills in the –14 to –16 C range.
