The standard rate for all cars registered after April 2017 - excluding brand new vehicles - is currently £195 a year.

But there are some circumstances where drivers don't have to pay at all, Mirror reports .

Disabled passenger vehicles: Vehicles that are used by organisations to provide transport for disabled people are also exempt from having to pay.
