The college football world was left in shock on Sunday after the College Football Playoff committee officially unveiled the 12-team field, notably leaving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish out in favor of the Miami Hurricanes.
Interestingly, Notre Dame had been ranked above Miami in the CFP standings for several weeks. However, Sunday’s selection was the only one that truly mattered, and the committee ultimately gave weight to Miami’s Week 1 head-to-head win over the Fighting Irish when deciding between the two 10-2 teams.
Shortly after the field was released, legendary head coach and "College GameDay" analyst Nick Saban reacted to the committee’s decision to leave Notre Dame out, keep Alabama at No. 9, and include Miami.
