The Town of Mattawa is hosting a public meeting on January 17, 2026, to discuss the rehabilitation of the Mauril Bélanger Bridge.
Currently, the town has commissioned a detailed structural review of the bridge, along with an environmental assessment. The Ministry of Transportation is funding the work, through its Connecting Link Program, which provides grants for infrastructure projects that connect to a provincial highway. Connecting Links provided Mattawa $343,440.

Future work on the bridge will include structural repairs, improvement of the road and sidewalk surfaces, and erosion protection. Depending on the results of the report, a replacement may be necessary.
“Once we have those documents in place, we’ll be looking for more funding,” Mayor Bélanger said.
