The City of North Bay could receive more than $122 million from the federal government to address PFAS in the city’s drinking water.

Council is expected to approve two agreements with the Department of National Defence (DND) to fund additional PFAS (perfluoralkylated substances) remediation work at Jack Garland Airport.

The agreement was finalized by the parties on Nov. 28, 2025. The city received notice of Treasury Board’s approval and received the signed contribution agreement from DND on Dec. 2, according to a staff report that will be presented to council on Tuesday.

The revised agreement increases the total project costs from $20 million to $122,670,523 over a 16-year term.

The agreement stipulates that DND will fund 97 per cent of the costs for a total of $118
