We visited the Derbyshire town to ask what changes residents would like to see in 2026

Residents in and around one of Derbyshire's biggest and busiest towns say it " should be a tourist attraction " as they outlined the changes they'd like to see in 2026.
That's a flavour of what Chesterfield locals had to say when we paid a visit on the first Thursday in December.
The town holds a huge market on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays , which was rather confusing considering how busy the market was with traders and shoppers, but it was refreshing to see the hustle and bustle nature of market life still so prevalent in big 2025.
