Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued a statement after a blaze ripped through a three-storey high street building .

Crews were called to High Street, Ripley , at around 10am on Tuesday (December 9) after a 999 call from a member of the public.

Firefighters from Alfreton and Heanor , as well as Nottinghamshire’s Ashfield Fire Station , attended the scene.

Firefighters administered first aid to two casualties prior to the arrival of East Midlands Ambulance Service . Paramedics later took them to hospital.

Derbyshire Constabulary were also in attendance and closed the road to allow space for emergency services , and the cause
