A university student managed to save £6,300 in rent during her final year - by opting to live in hotels. Kaitlin Fearn, 22, had previously lived in student halls and a shared house during her first two years at the University of Salford , but found herself working three jobs to cover her £550 monthly rent and bills.

Facing the possibility of having to leave university due to financial strain, she discovered that she could save money by staying in hotels for her third year. The social media and marketing executive revealed that she spent just £100 per month on hotel stays, securing rooms for as little as £16 per night.

With her parents' house in the Peak District available for laundry duties, Kaitlin only needed to stay in hotels for an average of two days every fortn
