The Supreme Court has refused to cancel the six-month interim bail granted by the Rajasthan High Court to Asaram, who is serving a sentence in a rape case. A bench comprising Justice Pamidighantam Narasimha and Justice Atul S. Chandurkar dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the victim in the Jodhpur POCSO case, thereby disposing of the matter.
The victim had filed the SLP on 21 November, making the State of Rajasthan and Asaram alias Ashumal respondents. It was registered under the ‘Crimes Against Children & POCSO Act 2012’ category within criminal law. After hearing both sides on Monday, the court dismissed the petition.
SLP filed against the interim bail order
Asaram had been granted six months’ interim bail by the Rajasthan High Court on 29 October in the Jodhpur case.
