NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Tennessee’s holiday spending is on the rise, according to a report from SmartAsset.

The report dove into the holiday spending growth by each state from 2023-2024.

The Volunteer State wound up in the middle of the pack (No. 24) with an annual change in holiday spending of 6.7% in 2024.

This is up from a fall in 2023 of -6.3%. The report also states that Tennesseans are nearly 30% less likely to shop online versus in-store.

Atop the list was Nebraska, which saw a more than 30% change in holiday spending in 2024 at 31.7%, up from -14.6% in 2023. The bottom of the rankings was Vermont, which saw a -8.2% change in holiday spending in 2024.
