The hunt has begun for a man who asked a young girl to come with him.

The attempted accosting incident took place just before 5.30pm on Wednesday, December 3, in Mill Hill in Newmarket.

It is reported that the young girl was walking a few metres in front of her mother before being approached by a stranger, who asked the child to come with him.

He then walked away and the girl was unharmed.

The suspect is described as a white man, mid-30s, tall, with a slim build and long ginger swept over hair. He is also described as having a stubble-type beard and wearing a long black coat.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said officers will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.
