More than £202 million was paid out in Cold Weather Payments across the UK during the last three winters, including more than £137 million in the 2022 to 2023 winter alone.
Theis comes as the DWP Cold Weather Payment window has begun for this winter, a government scheme to help people with their heating bills when temperatures drop to zero.
This is triggered if zero temperatures are either forecast or recorded between November 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
The analysis shows Heathrow saw the largest individual total in the 2022 to 2023 winter at £13.6 million.
Rostherne in Cheshire and Albemarle in Northumberland also passed £10 million each, showing how widely households relied on emergency help as temperatures dropped.
