State Legislators and city and borough mayors of Fairbanks held a town hall on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Noel Wien Library to answer constituent questions leading up to the legislative session set to begin Jan. 20, 2026.

Rep. Ashley Carrick, Mayor of Fairbanks Mindy O’Neall, Rep. Maxine Dibert, Sen. Scott Kawasaki, Rep. Mike Prax and Borough Mayor Grier Hopkins made up the panel Wednesday night.

A big theme in the conversation was the tight budget the legislature will be dealing with next year and how they plan to achieve legislative goals and aid in funding of Interior communities. Mainly due to the volatile price of oil, among other factors.
