Gretchen Baker is stepping down as the director for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History to accept an executive position in Chicago.
Baker was hired in 2021 as the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Director of the museum for her wide range of experience in science, exhibition and community. She will end her tenure on Dec. 31 to begin a new role as the president and CEO of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
A replacement for Baker has not yet been determined. A search will begin at the start of next year, according to Betsy Momich, senior director of corporate communications at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
