LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Local filmmaker and operator of Louisville Indie Films, Emmett Swann, started a petition the day before Thanksgiving, putting a spotlight on Baxter Avenue Theatres.
Baxter Avenue Theatre is more than just a neighborhood theatre for Swann, who grew up going to shows at the location. He said the theater not only shows popular movies but they'll show pieces made by local filmmakers.
"It just gives them a bit of a spotlight and an ability to show their film in a theater setting, at a rate that's affordable to a lot of people," Swann said. "Otherwise I feel like we wouldn't see small films. We would not get a glimpse into what other people are creating in Louisville."
The petition aims to save the neighborhood theatre amid a pending sale. The theatre is located in Mid Cit
