The Department for Work and Pensions is set to DISCONTINUE two popular benefits next year. The Labour Party government has revealed the precise date when two DWP benefits will be scrapped in 2026.

The axing of the two benefits comes as thousands of claimants are transitioned to Universal Credit . Income Support and income-based Jobseeker's Allowance will cease on 1 April 2026, the DWP has said.

The abolishment comes as part of the DWP's strategy to shift all six legacy benefits to Universal Credit by March 2026. This follows the recent announcement that nearly a quarter of a million people on Employment Support Allowance (ESA) have transitioned to Universal Credit.
