A f ull list of health conditions that qualify for an eye-watering £5,700 payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) -with thousands of pensioners eligible - have been revealed. Retirees are being urged to check eligibility for tax-free benefit helping with daily care needs.

DWP Attendance Allowance is worth up to £5,740 a year - but many older people don't realise they are eligible. Attendance Allowance helps people aged 66 and over who find daily self-care challenging due to physical or mental health conditions.

To qualify, people must have illnesses or disabilities which make looking after themselves difficult. 1.7 million older people receive this support, according to DWP data.
