People in a Welsh city centre have criticised a giant Christmas tree erected by the city council, with one saying he thought it could be the worst tree in the country. The giant tree in Newport city centre has been criticised by some locals who have said they've felt disappointed by the festive display.
Some criticised that the tall, thin tree wasn't real and said it was decorated in lights that don't work. The conversation about the tree near Newport's high street was started by Tory campaigner Michael Enea. Since he posted online about the tree last week many others have chimed in leading to Mr Enea claiming the tree was "talk of the city".
He said: "I’ve been campaigning quite heavily lately for improvements to Newport’s city centre. I have to say the Christmas tree isn’t helping.
