CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Chapel Hill Fire Department said a hotel's sprinkler system did not activate during a fire that broke out earlier this year.

The Siena Hotel on East Franklin Street was badly damaged on the morning of Aug. 22 because of the fire.

It caused more than $600,000 worth of damage.

The report issued by the fire department also said the hotel's sprinkler system was shut off and confirmed that the fire was intentionally set.

The man believed to be responsible, 60-year-old Randall Bullock, was found dead inside the hotel.

His motive for setting that fire is still unclear.

The hotel remains closed.
