Police launch murder probe following 'altercation' death

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following an 'altercation' in Oldham . Emergency services attended a property on Plumpton Close, in Royton , at around 7.50pm on Saturday evening (December 6). Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to an altercation at the address. Officers and paramedics treated a 55-year-old man at the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 59-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning on Monday morning. Residents described their shock, saying they first noted something was wrong when they saw 'flashing lights' outside'. Pictures from the scene showed a police cordon in place at Plumpton Close.
