A 28-year-old man is facing theft and weapons charges after security staff detained a suspected shoplifter at a Bay Street business on Saturday evening.
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says officers were called around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 to a business in the 200 block of Bay Street after 911 communicators received a report of a shoplifter being held by store security.

Police say an investigation determined the suspect — identified as Joshua Bray — had stolen merchandise. After arresting him, officers conducted a search and allegedly found brass knuckles in his possession.
Bray is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 9.
