Twin brothers from Passaic County were charged in connection with the drug overdose death of a 27-year-old man found dead in his Essex County home last spring.

Erick Peguero, of Paterson, and Esteven Peguero, of Clifton, both 36, are each charged with first-degree strict liability for a drug-induced death, and with distributing a controlled dangerous substance near a school and public building.

Investigators determined the victim met with both Pegueros on May 30 and purchased oxycodone and heroin, according to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II.

The man was found dead in his Livingston home on May 31, Stephens said in a statement with Livingston Police Chief Gary Marshuetz.

The brothers were charged on Dec. 2, court records show.
