A juvenile suspect has been arrested after a threatening message was sent over the weekend to Coronado High School, police said.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an increased police presence at Coronado High School on Monday,” police stated in a release.

A one-sentence written threat was sent Dec. 6 to the school’s direct message social media account by a juvenile, police said.

An investigation determined the threat was made by one person and was “not part of any planned or coordinated threat with others, and the suspect does not have the means to physically carry out the written threat,” the release stated.

“Both the Scottsdale Police Department and the Scottsdale Unified School District take all threats to the schools very seriously.
