Authorities have a person of interest in custody in connection with last month's shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, three sources familiar with the matter said Monday.
Boyd was wounded outside a restaurant in midtown Manhattan on Nov. 16. The apprehension, which sources say happened in Buffalo, comes weeks after the NYPD released surveillance images of a suspected gunman.
Questioning of the individual in custody was ongoing early Monday afternoon, the sources said. U.S. Marshals and NYPD detectives assisted in the capture.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and authorities said it’s not clear if Boyd was targeted.
The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. about halfway between Madison Square Garden and Times Square. Boyd, 29, was taken to Bellevue
