I was struck a few days ago by what is presented to us as actual news. It was just before Thanksgiving and one of the news statements said that 80 million people would be traveling within the next seven days.

I asked myself what I was supposed to glean from that information. Did it affect me in any way?

The commentator continued to list how many people would be flying and driving. He even added the number who would be traveling by train.

That further piqued my curiosity. How many people weren’t going to travel at least 50 miles from home this Thanksgiving?
