MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Police Department is offering more details about shots that were fired at a local park last week and resulted in the death of an animal.
In a statement released Monday, the police department said an officer fired three shots while responding to an incident on Nov. 29 at Fitch Park involving an unleashed dog.
Officers were patrolling the park at about 3:30 a.m. and came across an individual sleeping on a park table. Because the park was closed at this time, officers attempted to approach the individual and a dog started growling at them from the tabletop.
Police said the dog jumped off the table, then barked and sniped before one of the officers discharged their weapon three times.
Mesa police have released a 36-second clip of body-worn camera footage that capture
