After nearly 50 years in business, the Taco John's at 770 S. Wells Ave. is closing. Co-owners Julie Ann Raum and Scotty Arndt said a variety of factors contributed to their decision to close Nevada's only Taco John's on Dec. 31.

"It was time," Arndt told the Reno Gazette Journal on Dec. 8.

Raum and Arndt noted rising supply costs after the COVID-19 pandemic as a significant reason for the closure. But the constant attention a restaurant requires and the distance from the chain's headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, were also noted as significant difficulties.

The Reno restaurant is the only Taco John's in Nevada. After it shutters, the closest location to Reno will be in Twin Falls, Idaho.
