The Detroit Pistons’ lone rookie is set for some time away from the team. The Pistons announced on Sunday that guard Chaz Lanier has been assigned to their G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.
Lanier, the 37th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, has seen limited time out on the court since joining the league. Largely thanks to excessive injuries to the Detroit roster, Lanier got some solid run in November, but as the team’s health has improved, his minutes are drying up.
In 13 appearances, Lanier is averaging 3.3 points and 1.1 rebounds on 32.4% three-point shooting playing just over 10 minutes per outing.
Lanier became an elite shooter in college and came in considered a more pro-ready prospect at 23 years old — turning 24 this month.
