The 2025-26 winter season is getting underway, so it’s time to take a look at this year’s basketball teams.

Here is a look at every boys basketball team in the Portland Interscholastic League:

Benson Astros

Coach: Earl Clark (13th year)

Last season: 14-11, 10-6 PIL (T-3rd); lost in first round

Returning all-leaguers: Dache Acelar, senior (first team); Malu Niko, sophomore (second team); Richard Hudson, junior (honorable mention)

Outlook: The Astros look to be a team on the rise in the PIL led by Acelar, who averaged 19.2 points per game as a junior.

Cleveland Warriors

Coach: Sam Glasgow (4th year)

Last season: 12-13, 10-6 PIL (T-3rd); lost in first round

Returning all-leaguers: Patrick Duque, senior (honorable mention)

Outlook: The Warriors will be an inexperienced group
