A man was killed when the car he was driving was struck by a pickup driver as he attempted to make a left turn.

The T-bone crash happened around 5:40 p.m. Thursday at Mayhew Lake Road and 15th Street Northeast in Sauk Rapids Township, and involved a Nissan Altima and a Ford pickup.

The Nissan, driven by 48-year-old Bradley Thoennes, of Sauk Rapids, was northbound on Mayhew when he attempted to make a left turn onto 15th Street Northeast. It was at this point the Nissan was struck by the southbound Ford.

Thoennes was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old Foley man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Ford was not injured.
