BOSTON —

Police and sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a detainee following an incident inside the Suffolk County House of Correction on Sunday night.

According to the sheriff's office, Shacoby Kenny, 32, began "exhibiting erratic behavior" at approximately 8:40 p.m. He attacked members of the staff and then ran around inside the housing unit in an attempt to evade capture, they said.

"Shortly after his apprehension, Mr. Kenny became unresponsive," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Officers and medical staff immediately began administration of lifesaving measures, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Minutes later, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived to the scene and transported Mr. Kenny to an area hospital, where he passed the following morning."
