NEEDHAM, Mass. —

If you can brave the cold overnight, the arrival of a coronal mass ejection may make it possible to see the northern lights over Massachusetts overnight.

"I would say your best chance is going to be around maybe 2 or 3 a.m. in the morning, right before sunrise," said StormTeam 5 Chief Meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon.

If you wake up (or stay up) for the chance to see the aurora, make sure you prepare for the cold. Temperatures will be in the single digits through most of inland Massachsuetts.

"If you're going to be standing out there for any length of time, you're going to want to be bundled up," Fitzgibbon said.
