CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said an elementary school student is set to be charged for making a threat of mass violence on Monday.
The student, who attends Stone Elementary, made alarming statements to other students on school property Monday, according to a release from CCSO, Crossville police and Cumberland County Schools. Students then reported the threats to a teacher, which prompted a response from school officials, CCSO and the Office of Homeland Security.
Officials said the situation was contained, adding that no weapons were found and no students were ever in any danger.
