DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Some families find themselves in a frustrating position as they face a deadline on deciding whether to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, but they have no way of knowing yet how much that will cost them.

The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on Thursday on whether to extend the enhanced premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act. Without the extension, some families could pay thousands more for their insurance coverage next year.

Insurance brokers say customers have a lot of questions, and right now they don’t have all the answers. Kelly Reinhold at AKP Insurance is telling customers to prepare for the worst and not expect to keep receiving those additional tax credits.
