GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A University of Florida law student kicked out for posting antisemitic messages on social media will not return to campus, pending a stay on his case.
Preston Damsky was expelled after a March post on “X” which said, “Jews must be abolished by any means necessary.”
Late last month, a U.S. District judge ruled Damsky’s speech was protected by the First Amendment and ordered UF to reinstate him.
But last week, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an administrative stay.
Damsky’s lawyers have until Friday to file their response.
The University of Florida Police Department also reissued a trespass warning against Damsky last week.
