Part of a UK motorway has been shut after a crash as part of the carriageway has become flooded. Rush hour traffic is facing long delays in both directions approaching the M66 at Ramsbottom this morning.

Traffic reporting service Inrix shows the motorway has been shut between junction one and the A56. The collision is reported to have taken place on the southbound carriageway, but the northbound side was also closed for a short time. 07:41 KEY EVENT

The motorway was closed between the A56 and junction one at Ramsbottom, according to Inrix. There are 30-minute delays approaching the area.
