Heavy's Barburger to open 3rd location on Isle of Palms

ISLE OF PALMS — A popular burger restaurant with locations downtown and on Daniel Island is adding a third outpost.

The forthcoming beachfront destination harks back to John Haire’s original vision for Heavy’s Barburger , which first brought its signature smash-burgers, crinkle cut fries and frozen drinks to the Charleston area in 2022.

The restaurant’s funky, retro aesthetic was loosely inspired by Haire’s time on Virginia Beach. Haire and his wife Brenda have been wanting to open a restaurant in one of Charleston’s beach towns. When the opportunity to take over the 1012 Ocean Blvd. space previously occupied by Papi’s Taqueria presented itself, they decided to take the plunge and purchase the property.
