The first time Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart arrived at the Providence Performing Arts Center for the annual Christmas show, he found himself on stage without an orchestra.
It wasn’t his fault, just some classic New England winter weather that had held up the buses.
"I just moved back to the Northeast," Lockhart later told his fans in his resonant radio voice according to The Providence Journal review, "and never knew it took three hours to get from Boston to Providence."
The show – though shortened due to a very late start – was called “dashing” and “impressive” by The Providence Journal’s reviewer in 1995.
