The UK is set to be hammered by wintry weather over the coming days, with the latest weather maps showing up to nine inches of snow . The maps from WXCharts show snowfall reaching as far south as Bristol in southwest England , with flurries expected to cause travel chaos on December 20.

The charts suggest layers of snow will cover many parts of Scotland, while areas in the South West England will be peppered with flurries. The dramatic weather maps come as the Met Office issued several yellow and amber weather warnings for today (Tuesday, December 9). Amber warnings for rain have been issued for South Wales and South Devon, where exposed higher ground could record up to 100mm of rain
