TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Community members were asked to attend Monday’s public information open house with Georgia Department of Transportation leaders to discuss what should be improved on Highway 80 on Tybee Island.
The proposals are divided into three segments:
Lazaretto Creek to Teresa Lane
Teresa Lane to Jones Avenue
Jones Avenue to Tybrisa Street
Below are images from GDOT’s PowerPoint Presentation about alternatives that are under consideration at this time.
There is also a roundabout proposal at Highway 80 and Tybrisa St. to, “improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity and refuge. This would also serve as a more practical turnaround point for vehicles and thus reduce traffic on Inlet Avenue and 17th Street,“ said GDOT .
They said it would accommodate turning movements
