Snow and frigid temperatures are on the radar for Massachusetts Tuesday, but forecasters say a midweek warmup into the 50s — and a messy wintry mix — is also on the way.
Temperatures ranged between 0 and 19 degrees across the state before sunrise, according to the National Weather Service. Springfield was the chilliest part, while Pittsfield was at 2 degrees. Worcester and Boston were at 10 and 15, and Hyannis was in the upper teens.
By afternoon, Western and Central Massachusetts will reach the mid to upper 20s, though wind chills in the Berkshires could feel like -3. Eastern Massachusetts may break into the 30s.
Snow is expected statewide Tuesday night, forecasters say. Precipitation will begin by midnight in Western and Central Massachusetts and move eastward, hitting Eastern Massach
