LOUISVILLE, Ky. — U.S. News and World Report released ratings that show a growing number of hospitals with a high standard for maternity and perinatal care, including six in Kentucky.
That's up from three hospitals in the last ranking. More than 900 hospitals submitted maternity data for evaluation, and each one was carefully evaluated, according to U.S. News and World Report.
"Two of the metrics that we look at that are really important are the rates of severe unexpected newborn complications, which is obviously a critically important metric for both the parents and for their doctors," said Jennifer Winston, U.S. News and World Report health data scientist. "And then we also look at rates of C-section in lower-risk pregnancies."
