LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fayette County Public Schools held the first of three community meetings Wednesday night to discuss potential changes to school programs.

Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins hosted a session at Rise STEM Academy for Girls. Parents and families gathered to ask questions and express concerns about a proposal that could house George Washington Carver STEM Academy for Boys in the same building as Rise next year.

The potential move is part of the district’s Project Right Size Bright Future initiative aimed at saving money.

Dr. Liggins told attendees the school board could make a decision as early as next week, depending on various factors.
