Nobody will be hanging out with sand in their boots in Gulf Shores next May, as the city has punted for at least a year on a musical event that has spurred tourism and brought millions in annual economic impact.

During the Gulf Shores City Council meeting on Monday, Mayor Robert Craft said the city has rejected Hang Out Music Fest , LLC’s event proposal for another iteration of the Hangout Festival because talent lineups did not appear to match the theme of the Sand In My Boots Festival that was put on in 2025.
