BENGALURU: Amidst the rising traffic congestion in the city, Namma Metro has something to cheer about. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to double the number of trains in order to provide better convenience and faster commute for passengers.

Already, metro trains are operating on three lines, and orders have been placed for new trains on two new routes as well as on the existing routes, which will double the number of metro trains.

Namma Metro has ordered 96 new trains and 516 coaches. At present, Namma Metro runs 63 trains along the Green line, Purple, and Yellow lines combined. The Green and Purple lines together have 57 trains, while the Yellow line has six trains.
